Q: Following the divestment of the emulsion business from Clariant, what is left on Clariant' s side regarding the range of emulsions ?
A: Clariant sold its' European emulsion business to Celanese. Outside of Europe Clariant keeps the trade name Mowilith and the business together with 17 manufacturing units all over the world.
Q: Does Clariant still carry VAE products in their range ?
A: The Clariant manufacturing sites for VAE emulsions have been sold to Celanese. Clariant outside of Europe can however still be the agent for VAE emulsions and hence acts as distributor or agent for VAE emulsions.
Q: Why don't you give guide formulations for your products on your Internet site ?

Paints and Varnishes
Q: Is there an emulsion in your product range which is suitable for parquet varnishes ?
A: As a binder for parquet varnishes you will need an emulsion with good scratch resistance and good anti blocking properties. Mowilith® LDM 7460 fulfils these requirements. The emulsion is compatible with polyurethane emulsions and is also suitable for the formulation of furniture coatings.
Q: Which product has good penetration power, so that it is useful as a primer ?
A: Due to its very low particle size Mowilith® LDM 7667 is suitable for the formulation of aqueous primers with good penetrating properties on porous substrates like gypsum, plasters and concrete. The emulsion can also be used as a binder in impregnating wood stains.

Q: Which products can you recommend for preparing water resistant wood glues ?
A: There are different levels of water resistance, which are described in the European Standard EN 204. For durability class D3 (cold water resistance) we recommend Mowilith® DHWR and Mowilith® LDL 2555 W as one component systems, while for durability class D4 (resistance to boiling water) we recommend Mowilith® LDL 2510 W in combination with a salt-based hardener as a two component system
