June 18, 2008 - Clariant Paper Business announces the launch of its redesigned Cartacoat RM range of rheology modifiers.
Up to 30 % cost savings in thickener system
Rheology modifiers are chemicals that are added into the paper coating and aimed at improving coating colors and runnability, as well as the paper and print quality. The Cartacoat RM series combines the features expected from such products, whilst allowing substantial savings in your production costs.
The Cartacoat RM range allows control of high shear and low shear viscosity and water retention to achieve superior runnability and optimum coating color rheology. Cartacoat RM products can be used for instance for blade coating or MSP-applications with all kind of paper and board grades.
A complete toolset
Rheology modifiers are no novelty among the product portfolio available to Clariant’s customers, but the newly developed products add to the range, forming a complete toolset that will allow papermakers to solve any rheology-related issue in their papermaking process:
- Cartacoat RM 8 liquid: Water retention aid for paper and board coating color with small effect on low shear and high shear viscosity. Improves the paper properties by reducing water penetration into the base sheet. FDA and BfR compliant.
- Cartacoat RM 12 liquid: Allows good water retention and increases both low and high shear viscosity.
- Cartacoat RM 15 liquid: Especially suitable in the manufacturing of coated board and packaging paper, offering a good balance between Brookfield viscosity and water retention. FDA and BfR compliant.
- Cartacoat RM 20 liquid: Shows optimal high shear properties with high Brookfield viscosity. Small dosing levels needed. Low influence on high shear viscosity and low blade pressure.
